Strategic Location

Anchored by King Shaka International Airport, and KwaZulu-Natal’s Dube TradePort Special Economic Zone, the Durban Aerotropolis is strategically located between two of the largest seaports in Africa.

The first being the commercial port of Durban - approximately 35km /21,7 miles away and immediately adjacent to the city centre in the south - and the second being the industrial port of Richards Bay - situated about 140km to the north, this forms the heart of the emergent Durban Aerotropolis, which resides within a larger regional context and has a radius of one-hour travel time from its airport epicentre.

Durban Aerotropolis is a new, urban environment developing around King Shaka International Airport, taking advantage of increasing global connectivity, the efficient Dube TradePort logistics hub, nearby seaport, a growing Special Economic Zone and 'Greenfield' space to develop a globally competitive 21st century operating environment in KwaZulu-Natal.
